Counselling

Sometimes life can throw up challenges and experiences that leave us floundering and needing a new perspective. By providing an integrative counselling approach, I promote exploration of current and past issues in a safe, client led space. I can offer to work alongside you to explore alternative view points and strategies to underpin a drive for improved well-being and quality of life.

You will be encouraged to explore choices and decisions that could lead to effective functioning and improved outcomes. With the help of counselling, you can be supported in challenging personal issues and crises that interrupt your everyday life, affecting your self-esteem, confidence, work and social interactions.

Examples of issues I can help with:

  • Anger issues
  • Self-Harm
  • Trauma and Abuse
  • Stress & Anxiety
  • Self-Esteem
  • Substance Misuse
  • Family Dynamic
  • Work Fatigue
  • Depression and Ambivalence

Parenting Support

Parenting the children in your family can be some of the most rewarding and frustrating times. As children grow and explore there increased autonomy they are exposed to opportunities, behaviours and influences you may experience as challenging.

It may be that your child is engaging in behaviours that result in undesirable consequences. It could be that the behaviour impacts their ability to learn, make healthy choices and may even bring your child in touch with the criminal justice system.

Together we can explore strategies and inclusive communication for your family, that will improve your relationship with your child(ren) and give you both tools to strengthen and grow your family relationships in the future.

The Secure Base Model provides a positive framework for therapeutic caregiving, which helps infants, children and young people to move towards greater security and builds resilience. It focuses on the interactions that occur between parents/carers and children on a day to day, minute by minute basis in the home environment. But it also considers how those relationships can enable the child to develop competence in the outside world of school, peer groups and the community.

Family Sessions

It may be you feel the need for support as a family to explore the challenges you are currently facing. Using a strengths led approach to foster a secure base for your children to feel safe, I can work with you to identify the roles and responsibilities of each family member and work with strategies to recognise and respect each other within the family dynamic.
